So, on Friday, after I've reached Ipoh from KL and they've reached from Penang, we head to Gua Tempurung. But sadly, we were too late. We can't do anything cause all the packages offered with the leader are in the morning. So, it's impossible for us to just leave after such a long drive from Ipoh. Of course we didn't drive, but Wilson did. So we decided to go to the so-call nearest place of all - Lata Kinjang; the waterfall that everyone would see when you drive pass the North-South highway. It's at Tapah. The ticket sales girl from Gua Tempurung told us Lata Kinjang was near but it wasn't at all. Got fooled.
So I went down without preparation. No extra clothes no nothing. Luckily Kit borrowed me her shorts. Yes indeed, the waterfall is nice. It looked too real, so real that it looks fake. Get what I mean? *lol* There were a flight of stairs leading us up somewhere which we have no idea where but yet adventurous kids like us went up. It lead us to almost the peak of where people would be able to go. (see the way I put it, not the peak of the waterfall) Then we decided to go back down to where it is safer to actually swim or dip in. The current of the waterfall was very strong. Lying down on one of the stone made me felt as though I am at a massage parlor and someone is massaging my back. But stubborn cow like us was not satisfied. So we climbed up a little higher, just a few rocks above us and we lie down... Phew, it was really fun. It felt as though we were doing a photoshoot. Crazy enough aren't we? *lol* But we were not satisfied! So we went up higher.. jumping from rocks to rocks.. which was really fun.. *lol*
" Past the point of no return
the final threshold, the bridge
is crossed, so stand and watch it burn . . ."
So what the bridge burn? Of course it didn't. We passed by a pretty scary bridge.. it was basically a hanging bridge...If you look down it's the waterfall... Imagine if anything happens, you drop into the bridge and that's the end of your life looking at the rocks and the current of the water.. I know Kit was pretty scared.. But it's kind of her first time adventure as I noticed...
Then we decided to leave. As we got out of Lata Kinjang area, we saw a sign which pointed Ipoh - turn right. So we followed. As we drive after some distance, we realized that we might be on the wrong track cause the road doesn't look familiar. So we asked a boy by the road side if that way we took is heading to Ipoh. He said yes. So we were on the right track. That's what we thought. Not till after a lot more distance away, the road was winding and tiny. It's a really small and winding road. You know like those by the mountain side - where only a car can fit on the road kind of thing.. It was really scary. Wilson was driving the car as though he was driving and acting in Initial D - speeding and drifting. When we came across the car, we nearly bang the car. Thank goodness we didn't. Phew. After some distance we had some other trouble - a road diverged into two. Which path do we need to take? Kit say we should turn left. Thank goodness we didn't cause if we do, we end up in Gua Tempurung. Not only later we found out about that...
That was a really long story abot Friday. Next up, Saturday.
SATURDAY 30th June 2007
Woke up about 7.30 am cause Wilson told me they will reach my place about 8.15 am for Gua Tempurung.
Tick tock, tick tock - 8.30 am - no sign of them...
Tick tock, tick tock - 9.00 am - no call from them, no sms from them, no sign from them... where are they???
Tick tock, tick tock - 9.15 am - phone rang but mom called. mom was laughing at me and she said i should send them at least sms to check on their location... so i did...
Tick tock tick tock - 9.30 am - message received. Kit said they would reach in half an hours time.. so while waiting, i actually dozed off at the couch... ZZZzzzz.........
Tick tock tick tock - 10.05 am - they are finally there outside of my house..
So we headed straight to Gua Tempurung... The journey there was fast as from my house we used the highway and got out at Gopeng... But unlucky me, as we reached, got off the car and all, my shoes torn - the rubber of my sport shoes came off... So I am gonna venture the cave without a proper gripped shoes...
Fours tickets please. But we were not allowed to buy! Cause the package that we wanted which was package 4, we need to have a minimum number of 8 people in the team only we're allowed to go.. How pathetic could we be. So we waited cause according to the sales person, there is a team of 30 coming at 10.30am. So we waited. Then there was this uncle with his kids or nephews and nieces. They too only have 4 person. So we asked them to join our group as well. YAY, we finally can go in for our Grand Tour of Gua Tempurung....
As we enter the cave, it wasn't anything much. Images of horses and a lot more stuff were seen. Then the tough part begins. Climbing flights of stairs! That was the tiring, honestly. So anyone of you with asthma, please do not enter. Then there was this part where it is known as the Wind Cave. It was really windy at that area. Physics could explain that as the wind comes from the pressure from the both sides - as the windy area is small, compared to those outside of it; big open space..
Then we moved on. Nothing much yet, still plain walking stairs.. Then we came to our final stop - the dark spot of the cave. By the way, for those of you who do not know, Gua Tempurung used to be called the Dark Cave as deep inside the cave, you won't be able to see anything.. True enough, when we switch off our torch, we really couldn't see anything.
Next up, the adventure begins. We had to slide down a very dangerous rock which was slippery. It wasn't easy. I did injure myself a little. Then after that, we did river tracking, which was fun. Deep dark inside the cave, we walked along the river flow.... And there was on part were we needed to move like an army training - but in water.. the ARMY CRAWL I would call it. I manage to crawl real fast.. but the rest of them had splashes of water on their faces. Why I didn't get it? Cause I was the 2nd person behind the tour guide. Hehe, smart right?
By the time we got out of the cave, we were all dirty and wet. (ok, that sounds really wrong but well it's the best way to describe us.. ) After Gua, I went back home while they went for jungle tracking..
It was really nice goin to Lata Kinjang and Gua Tempurung. I am pretty happy with the two adventures. Both we did minor jungle tracking and river tracking - which I love a lot.
Phew, now, the only thing I am waiting for is pictures!!!! Hopefully Wilson will upload it soon enough for us...
That's all... Chioz
